Living A Second Life

Fish and Bait

While browsing SLExchange’s marketplace for FREE goodies, I stumbled on a very cool Open Source Book Making Script. I immediately purchased it and tested it in-world and it seems to be working fine. Now, this new discovery gave me an idea to create a Second Life magazine (as if we need another one, LOL) and the topic I chose was RPG Empires.

Excite about my new project, I quickly started on designing the pages of the magazine in Photoshop. I finished five pages and uploaded it into Second Life and then applied it to the Book Maker. The process was really simple and after that I sent a copy to mikeD Streeter, owner of RPG Empires, to get his input on the project. [...continue reading Fish and Bait]

My Fishing Dungeon

My castle, which is located in the Animate Me Poseballs sim, has three levels. The dungeon, the main area and the throne room. The throne room is like my personal space. the main area is where all my vendors and affiliate vendors are placed and the dungeon was once a place where I put freebies. Now, since I don’t have that much freebies to giveaway, I decided to change the dungeon into something else.

My Fishing Dungeon

The idea of changing the dungeon into a fishing area just came out of nowhere. I then went to build a very simple fishing pool with 8 chairs around it and placed it in my dungeon. If King Arthur has “The Round Table” in his castle then in my castle I have “The Round Fishing Pool”. [...continue reading My Fishing Dungeon]

Tied At Third, Prize Never Came

A nice prized fishing contest at USCHI OCEAN was announced in 7Seas Social Chat. As expected, most of the active fishers that were currently online (including me) went there to participate. The place was really laggy when I landed there. In fact, the fish servers were already acting up even before the contest started and when it finally started, all hell broke loose. The fish servers and the contest board were not responding correctly. Points were not being recorded and fish servers act as if they’re not there. It was so laggy that the board even recorded the ZERO points made by some players and that was the first time I saw that kind of thing happened.

Zero Points on the Board
(Early shot of the board, more ZERO points were displayed a little later.)

That went on up to the middle part of the contest when almost only half of the participants were left fishing. I tried all sorts of things to lessen the lag like moving away from group. I even wore my Personal Motorboat to act like a Personal Fishing Server. After, moving around a little, I found a nice little spot behind the Contest Board where I was able to fish and get my points recorded on the board too. Accused But Cleared, Thanks 7Seas

Today I received a very unexpected message from Seven Shikami, one of the staff and I believe to be the main developer of the 7Seas Fishing Game System. He told me that some people are accusing me of cheating the system. Duh? These narrow-minded residents of Second Life came to that conclusion because I was kinda dominating most of the fishing competitions and also because I was using a modded fishing rod.

Kabalyero and 7Seas

You see, you can mod the appearance of any of the 7Seas Fishing Rod BUT you can never modify or edit any of the 7Seas core scripts that make the fishing rod works. I got the idea from someone who was fishing at my place. She was using a one prim stick that acted like a wand. I asked how it was done and she told me that it was as simple as dragging the scripts into another object and in return I made her a simple magic wand. One important thing she forgot to tell me was that transferring the scripts will reset your fishing rod’s stats. I found out about it after transferring my fishing rod’s scripts into my Katana which I later on transferred into my Kendo Stick. I then spent a few hours levelling it up again to level 5. I also replaced the casting animations to match the Kendo stick more. [...continue reading Accused But Cleared, Thanks 7Seas]
