Well, I may not be active in-world but I still receive updates of what’s happening at The Roman Empire region through group notices which are regularly sent by those in power. One of the more interesting notice I received lately from The Roman Empire group is about the formation of the Roman Senate. Any citizen of The Roman Empire region can run for a seat in the Senate (at least that is how I understand it). By the way, this is a paid position. Senators will receive a weekly stipend of 250L$.

Of course, as a Senator, you will be required to perform some duties like to listen and speak in behalf of the people at Senate meetings, welcome visitors and guests to the region, help promote the empire and other duties and responsibility which fit the title of Senator.

To run for office, interested parties must send a full permission photo of themselves to the owner of the region, mikeD Streeter, 10 to 14 days before the election. These photos will be placed on a voting board where citizens can cast their votes. Citizens can vote for as many people as they want but they can only vote for the same person once. The owner, mikeD Streeter, will certify the results.

The Roman Empire region in Second Life is a very active region with very active people running it. They are dedicated to making their visitors’ and citizens’ experience with them memorable and fun. The Roman Empire is also connected with The Spartan Empire region and it has strong relations with other regions like Nordhaven and Birka which enables them to organize Inter-Sim Tournaments and WARS.

Anyway, if you feel like role playing a Roman Senator in a Roman inspired region of Second Life then just drop by The Roman Empire, join the group and submit your application. Remember, this is a paid position. 250L$ may not be much but that beats camping any time and besides, chicks dig men in power. LOL!
