A nice prized fishing contest at USCHI OCEAN was announced in 7Seas Social Chat. As expected, most of the active fishers that were currently online (including me) went there to participate. The place was really laggy when I landed there. In fact, the fish servers were already acting up even before the contest started and when it finally started, all hell broke loose. The fish servers and the contest board were not responding correctly. Points were not being recorded and fish servers act as if they’re not there. It was so laggy that the board even recorded the ZERO points made by some players and that was the first time I saw that kind of thing happened.

That went on up to the middle part of the contest when almost only half of the participants were left fishing. I tried all sorts of things to lessen the lag like moving away from group. I even wore my Personal Motorboat to act like a Personal Fishing Server. After, moving around a little, I found a nice little spot behind the Contest Board where I was able to fish and get my points recorded on the board too.

The contest was 2 hours long and it was set to Limited/Unbaited Fishing which means no baits will be used and casual rods are welcome to join. I’m not a hundred percent sure but I believe the Host of the contest was Vidar Larg.

After 2 hours of non-stop hellish fishing, at the end of the contest I managed to get 90pts. which was the same as another contestant named Margareth. Both of us got 90pts. thus both of us were tied at third place. Of course, the board can’t show two names on the same line and so, the names where listed randomly on top of each other. It just so happened that her name was displayed above mine.

Eventhough, we were clearly tied for third place (with 90 pts. each), only Margareth was awarded the prize which was 1,000L$. I waited and waited but no prize came. It was very unussual because I’ve been tied with other players before in other contest and the prize was ussually split between the parties that are tied but in this case the prize was never split.

I wanted to open up the topic regarding the tie and the prize but these people were strangers to me and not to mention that I don’t understand what they’re saying. I was afraid that if I did open it up, they could misunderstood my intention and be perceived as hostile. In other words, I don’t to be perceived as a troublemaker.

Anyway, I just took some screenshots and didn’t bother them anymore since they look quite certain that they didn’t miss anything from the recently concluded contest. Margareth knew that we were tied at third place and, from the goodness of her heart, she gave me 30% of the prize which was 300L$. She didn’t have to do that but she still did and that was mighty impressive of her.

For those at USCHI OCEAN (host and event organizers), better check the boards carefully because if that happened to a very aggressive person then you’ll have a big fight on your hands which ussually doesn’t end nicely.
