I received a message from mikeD Streeter informing me about the closure of two RPG Empire sims, Scotland Highlands and Ireland RP. He didn’t give me the reasons for the closure of the two sims but in an Open Letter sent to everyone as a Group Notice, he explained why the two sims were closed.

Scotland and Ireland Closed
After reading the letter, I can understand why they were closed but I guess for some the decision won’t be that easy to understand. The points mentioned in the Open Letter are:
- sims within RPG Empire should have good RP between each other
- tiers were not renewed
As part of RPG Empire, a sim under it must have good relations and RP between the other sims within the empire because it does not make any sense to be part of it and not have any relations or interaction with the other sims. Sims within the empire should work together to achieve common goals. This will ensure the success and growth of everyone within the empire. If one decides to take a different path and pursue a different goal then it will just hinder the efforts and growth of the other sims. For example, DCS2 is RPG Empire’s chosen combat system and if one sim will not use it then how can you have good RP based combat between each other?
It’s like this, you chose to be part of a group and as a member of that group you are then expected to follow the rules and guidelines of the group and work together with the other members of the group to achieve its goal. That’s what being part of a group means.
Another point mentioned was tiers were not renewed. Well, this is pretty simple. If you don’t pay or, in this case, renew your tier then your sim will be taken away or reclaimed. Just like with Linden Labs, if you don’t pay then your sim gets reclaimed! Ouch!
Anyway, the letter also said that no other sims will be deleted and that all of the remaining sims will be the core sims of RPG Empire and they are The Roman Empire, The Spartan Empire, Samurai Japan, Dark Century and [French Rennaisance]. [Medevil England] is owned, as far as I know, by Enrich Halasy and I can’t find Peloponnesia on the grid map anywhere. I guess it’s been deleted earlier!

Well, I hate to see sims like these closed.
OK, if the tier is not paid, no need to discuss anything else.
Role play with combat is somewhat ambiguent:
On the one hand role play is flexibility, we love the different race, opinion, life style, way to react, way to organize themselves, … well role play needs the difference.
On the other hand, we fight the different people, we make war with them, we kill them .. that’s role play.
My feeling is, that the two sides of role play are often mixed up.
When we do a rp war, that is NOT real life, I really do not hate the person at the computer that I am just killing.
On the contrary, I love to find someone that I can compare my fighting skills with and have rp fun at the same time.
I liked the people of Scotland and Pelo. All I got to know were ready to role play, including their leaders. Too bad they have to look for another home now and start their rp again.

Thanks Gandy for commenting! RP in Second Life is indeed mixed up. You don’t know if they are still in RP or not which sometimes lead to misunderstanding.
