I was editing my Tiki Pavilions when I received an invite from the God of Rome, mikeD Streeter, to watch the Beast versus Gladiator Tournament at the Colosseum. He teleported me to where he was which at first I didn’t know where because everything was rezzing (appearing/loading) slowly. Well, [The Roman Empire] sim is a very active sim with lots of people coming in and out so it’s not surprising to experience some lag from time to time. Anyway, I wasn’t able to take snapshots of the Beast versus Gladiator Tournament but, fortunately, a second tournament quickly followed it. It was a standard Free For All Tournament with a total prize of 5,000L$.
Hmmm, wait, it wasn’t just your everyday Free For All Tournament. You see, a big hole was opened in the middle of the Colosseum’s arena floor. Wow! That was the first time I’ve seen it and it was really big. Now, the fighters must fight around the hole’s edge and if they fall in they’re dead, at least for that round. Just like the Platform and the Cage, the Hole adds a another level of difficulty to the fight. If I was down there fighting, it will force me to enable rendering objects which I usually turn off when fighting. Now, fighting with objects visible adds to viewer lag which is bad for me because it lowers my frame rate.
Watching the gladiators fight around the hole is kinda funny because they’ll have to avoid getting hit and falling into the hole at the same time. LOL! I guess they’ll have to employ a different strategy when fighting around an obstacle like that. Me? I’ll just run away from them all. Ha ha ha!

As a Free For All, a fighter or gladiator must win 3 rounds of bloody combat to win and the first gladiator to do that was Rome’s very own, Greg McBride. mikeD also told me that Greg was the winner of the 150,000L$ Black Thorne Tournament. WOW! He is freaking rich! (/me bows in worship). Becky, the awesomely big lady (click here to learn why), took second place and the former Emperor of Rome, JohnnyNite Darkstone, took home the third spot. A big congratulations to everyone!
The event was hosted by the current reigning Empress of Rome, aaminah Shikami, who, I think, was looking really thin. I guess the stress of running an empire is affecting her or maybe she is planning to enter next season’s America’s Next Top Model. LOL! Don’t get me wrong, she is as beautiful as the sun rising in the morning and, as always, she did an awesome job of hosting the event.
Fights with big purses like these are very common at [The Roman Empire] sim. In fact, A good fighter can make a nice Second Life living out of it but not me. I suck in fighting and I always have to optimize my settings just to be able to compete or stay alive even for a few seconds. Ha ha ha!
