It’s All About The Money Now

One great aspect of fishing with 7Seas is the ability to create community made items, commonly called customs, that can be caught or fished using 7Seas’ system. Most of these custom items are transferable because they are meant to be traded, shared or given away to people who want or need them. At least, that was the original intent of why they are transfererable.

As a fisher, I don’t go around fishing at different areas. I usually just stay at home building various items that I give away as customs but I do join fishing tourneys. Now, some fishing areas that hold fishing tourneys have custom items, either made by them or rented from other fishing areas. I get to catch a lot of custom items because of that. I’m not really a collector so these items just sits inside my inventory and as I go to different fishing areas joining tourneys the number of custom items I have caught continue to increase as well. Deleting them would be a waste because someone out there might like them. What I did is, I started to put all the extra custom items I catch in a Random Prize Ball which I then changed to an Item Giver because it was more easier to use so that those who come and fish at my place can get them easily.

Unfortunately, the other custom creators or builders didn’t like what I did. One said they’re the only one allowed to give their customs, another one said it wasn’t fair for those who are renting their custom servers and another one said I was infringing something and I should ask permission before giving them out. DUH!

As far as I know, the spirit of community creation as intended by 7Seas was sharing and giving. I don’t have to ask someone’s permission everytime I want to give out items that were intended to be shared and given away. Now, if I were selling these items then they’ll have something to really get angy about but I wasn’t.

Now, this move made by the other creators is a real surprise to me because I don’t have any problem with people who are giving away my customs. In fact, I encourage it. There is a reason why the customs I make are transferable and that reason is for people to share or give them to friends, family or to anyone who wants them. The only thing they’re not allowed to do is to SELL or RESELL my customs. Give? Okay! Sell? NO!

If these creators think I’m taking away their business then they’re stupid to think that. Why? Simple, I don’t have an unlimited supply of their items. In fact, I’m taking away business from myself and giving it to them because those who fish at my place will get a copy (which is very limited) and will wonder where to get more and go there. Unfortunately, they don’t see it that way. They see it as, “this guy is taking away our business, no one will go here anymore” or “no one will buy from us because this guy is giving them out”! Seriously, if you don’t want people to trade, share or give away your items then make it NO TRANSFER, period!

I don’t know why these creators are suddenly up in arms about me giving away their customs. I’m doing them a service because those people who never heard or seen their customs get to see them and I’m doing it for FREE too! Well, I’m doing it no longer because it’s not worth the trouble.

You know what I think? I think deep inside these creators really don’t want people who have caught their customs to share or give them out to other people. I think what they want people to do is rent their PPG/CPG, buy it from their vendors or spend a whole night or day fishing for it at their place. It’s really all about the money now!

Anyway, for those giving out my customs, don’t worry, I will not come after you. Put them in Freebie Givers, Prize Balls or just manually hand them out. It’s all the same to me. In fact, the more people you give them to the better because more people will know me. Ha ha ha! Again, the only thing you can’t do is SELL or RESELL them.
