3 days before Christmas (December 22, 2009), Metaplace announced in their E-mail Newsletter that they will be closing the service on January 1, 2010 which is just a few days from today. This is indeed a very saddening Christmas Gift to all members of Metaplace.
As a member, the thing that I will miss most about it are the 5 worlds that I spent a lot of time building. I had too much fun building my first world that I later found myself already building another. The 5 worlds I created are named Kabalyero’s Kingdom, ROMELO, Kidd’s Island, Escape From Basilan and San Pablo City.
Unfortunately, I don’t know if there is a way to save a copy of these worlds in my computer so I just did the next best thing and that is to take screenshots of each one of them.
Kabalyero’s Kingdom
Kabalyero’s Kingdom is a Medieval Themed World. It has a Castle, Knights, a Dragon and other creatures like Zombies, Ghouls, etc. The world is divided into 3 places. The Fields, The Village and The Castle. Out of the 3 places only 2 are finished. The Fields will never be finished ever since Metaplace is already closing. I’m proud of this world because Amethyst likes it. He he he!
Kidd’s Island
Kidd’s Island is a tropical island with its own Nudist Beach Resort that is why this world is Rated Mature. Visitors can take off their clothes and party on the beach in the nude. LOL.
ROMELO
I created this world with the objective of using it like a virtual office in Metaplace. The gallery area where the portraits are acts like an online portfolio which showcases some of my works in Real Life. Even though this world was never really finished, many visitors liked it and it was also selected as a Featured World. Too bad I wasn’t able to view it on the week it was featured.
Stats: 554 Visits, 529 Unique, 23 Favorites, 4.3/5.0 Score and 108 Votes
Escape From Basilan
This world is like a mini-game of some sort. I’m no scripter or coder but Metaplace has tools or plugins that can help you make your world fun and interesting. Most of these plugins were also created by other members and sold through the Marketplace for everyone to purchase and use.
The objective of this mini-game is to get to the goal by running through a path in the forest. The goal is a beach on the other side of the map where a boat to freedom is waiting. The only obstacles are a few land mines and two guards that are patrolling the area.
San Pablo City
This world was supposed to be a virtual representation of San Pablo City but I got too lazy and just decided to use Ready-Made Buildings and Objects which I bought from the Marketplace.
With Metaplace closing, all of these worlds together with all the worlds created by other members will soon cease to exist (and forgotten). With this photos/screenshots, I will remember them always.
