Converting Second Life Linden Dollars To US Dollars

So, you’ve finally made it rich in Second Life and now you wish to convert all your Linden Dollars in your Second Life account to US Dollars but you don’t know how. Fortunately for you it’s actually very easy to do specially now that XStreetSL.com is integrated with your Second Life account.

What? You don’t have an account with XStreetSL.com? LOL! Don’t worry because, as I’ve said, XStreetSL.com is already integrated with your Second Life account. All you have to do is go to XStreetSL.com and log in using your Second Life account (first and last) name and password.

Once logged in you will be able to see your in-world Linden Dollar balance located on the right side of the page under the My Marketplace box. If you are a merchant with listed items then you will also see numbers listed for those.

As you can see from the screenshot, I’m not that RICH yet in Second Life. LOL! From there, you will need to access your Account Functions page by either clicking on the Second Life L$ link or by clicking on your account name located on the top-right most part of the page.

From the Account Functions menu, you will need to click on the My Currency Exchange Orders link. This link will take you to the Currency Exchange page.

In the Currency Exchange menu, you will see in the bottom under Trade the Sell L$ link. To convert your Linden Dollars to US Dollars you will need to sell it back to Linden Lab or to XStreetSL.com.

For this demo, I will sell my L$ 784 using the best price I can get immediately but if you would like to get more from your Linden Dollars then you can study the current market trends and choose the other two options. As you can see from the screenshot, L$ 784 is only $ 2.79 USD.

Once your order is placed, it will be processed almost immediately and you will see the result under your Marketplace USD balance. Now that your Linden Dollars are in US Dollars, you can now withdraw it to your PayPal account.

After clicking on the Start Withdrawal button, it will take you to another page where it will ask you for your PayPal e-mail address. You will also see the actual amount that you will receive in your PayPal account. You’ll notice that it’s a few cents lower than the amount you are withdrawing. This is because of the fees involved in cashing out or withdrawing money from XStreetSL.com (click here to learn more about it).

Once you’ve entered your PayPal e-mail address simply click on the Complete Withdrawal to finalize the withdrawal. Withdrawals in XStreetSL.com are often immediately processed but sometimes it can delay as well.

Restrictions and Limits

I haven’t encountered any restrictions yet in converting my Second Life Linden Dollars to US Dollars and withdrawing it afterwards to my PayPal account but the official Second Life Wiki has this to say:

Accounts and avatars under 45 days old have a much lower rating than more mature accounts. Once an account and avatar both pass the 45-day mark, that account’s rating begins to increase over time, though not immediately, and without large upward jumps. The same goes for verified PayPal accounts: just because you verify your PayPal account doesn’t mean you’ll immediately be able to buy hundreds of thousands of Linden Dollars (L$) in goods at once.

As for Limits, the Second Life Wiki says:

Limits vary from account to account. You’ll be told what your limits are when you go to deposit funds.
