Goodbye To My Worlds In Metaplace

3 days before Christmas (December 22, 2009), Metaplace announced in their E-mail Newsletter that they will be closing the service on January 1, 2010 which is just a few days from today. This is indeed a very saddening Christmas Gift to all members of Metaplace.

As a member, the thing that I will miss most about it are the 5 worlds that I spent a lot of time building. I had too much fun building my first world that I later found myself already building another. The 5 worlds I created are named Kabalyero’s Kingdom, ROMELO, Kidd’s Island, Escape From Basilan and San Pablo City.

Unfortunately, I don’t know if there is a way to save a copy of these worlds in my computer so I just did the next best thing and that is to take screenshots of each one of them. (more…)

My Most Humble Place

First time I tried Metaplace was when it was still in Alpha. Curious, I registered. Unlike, most Virtual Worlds like Second Life, Metaplace runs in your browser which eliminates the need to download and install a setup program but it does requires your browser has the Flash plugin installed which is almost a standard in todays browsers.

As expected my old account is no longer in the system so I registered a new one and went through the Newbie Tutorials. Hehehe! After that I started tinkering with the tools provided and worked on my very own place which I humbly named “My Most Humble Place” (Renamed it to Kabalyero’s Kingdom)! It’s not much but everyone is welcome to visit anytime. ^_^ (more…)

Second Life, try it!

I tried Second Life a year ago and I wasn’t really sure what it was before. It was more like a 3D chat system than a game.

What is Second Life?

According to the site: Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 6,985,668 people from around the globe. (more…)
