I did try Second Life before, I think it was a year ago and if I remember it correctly back then they require new users to input their credit card info for validation purposes. But that was then, last week I registered a new basic account and it never asked me my card info. Things have changed in Second Life since then I guess and that’s not all, the newbie zone is now very different from before. It now has a tutorial like setup where users who are new to SL (Second Life) can explore around and study how the virtual world is.

The first thing I did is to customize my avatar. I tried my very best to make it look like me but I think it was a little off (it was off in many ways), hehehehe!

After that it was time to make money and since I have a basic account it means I won’t get any free Linden Dollars (L$) only premium members are given free L$. To get my L$ I have to work for it. There are many ways to earn L$. You can build and sell items, find a job or camp. I choose to camp. Camping means staying in a spot and get paid. Well, it’s not just an ordinary spot. You need to find spots designated for camping like a camping chair, a dance pad, a camping towel, a camping ATM or casino machine and others. Staying on that spot like sitting on a camping chair will earn you the amount indicated on the camping chair like “2 L$ for 10 minutes”. It means that you’ll get 2 L$ for every 10 minutes you stayed on the camping chair. Standing before that period will earn you nothing.

I forgot to mention that I also did some freebie shopping. I went around various freebie areas searching for freebie items like pants, shirts, hairs, skins, etc. In SL, newbies should take this opportunities. There are lots of freebie areas. You just have to use the search tool to find them. You don’t have to buy anything just yet.

I did a lot of exploring and took a lot of photos of the virtual world. And since dancing is currently my main source of income, I even got myself of some dance moves I can use on the dance pad. LOL
