Whoa! 1 million linden dollars (1,000,000 L$) for an idea? It’s true, someone in SLExchange’s forum posted about it so I went to check it out.
It is a contest sponsored by OSRAM. I’m not familiar with the company or the brand but according to their website they are one of the two largest lighting manufacturers in the world. The website also mentioned that OSRAM shines in about 150 countries.

They are looking for new ideas or concepts for a lighting object and they are going to give away 1,000,000L$ for it. Here are more information from their island in Second Life.

Hm. Seems to me this is a cheap way for them to pay for research and development of a potential out-world lighting solution.
