I was redecorating the third level of 3 Stars and a Sun which has a Filipiniana Theme. I don’t think I’m getting a lot of Filipinos visiting it, anyways, I like doing it and I’m proud to do it. I also don’t mind spending my hard earned L$ keeping it.

3 Prims Bahay Kubo

Lately, I added a Bahay Kubo¹ but that bahay kubo was around 8 prims² which was too many so I decided to create a new one. The new Bahay Kubo only has 3 prims. Instead of using textured prims to create the bamboo poles, I created a wall texture that already has bamboo poles. This saved me at least 5 prims. Since the new Bahay Kubo only has 3 prims, I was able to create 3 more copies and placed them at the corners. Initially, I thought of offering these bahay kubos as a free rental homes to Filipinos new to Second Life but since I don’t own the land I can’t maybe in the near future when I have enough to purchase my land or even a sim (wishful thinking, anyone wants to donate a sim or a land? LOL).

Soaring High and Bahay Kubo Cutouts

To add more life into the place, I also added 2 Philippine Eagles³ which can be found soaring above the Philippine Virtual Sky (LOL). Currently, I’m looking for some eagle sounds which I can upload to Second Life to give those Philippine Eagles some life of their own.

Before the 3 Prims Bahay Kubo, I found some bahay kubo photos which I uploaded and placed as cutouts on one side of the area. I truly enjoyed working on them.

2. Prims, short for primitives. These are basic shapes in Second Life when combined with other shapes create an object but an object can also be made with 1 prim
3. The Philippine Eagle (Pithecophaga jefferyi) is one of the rarest, largest and most powerful birds in the world.
