My Khan Online1 guildmate and now Second Life buddy, Titanium Binder, once gave me a 20×20x0.1 mega prim2. I used the mega prim as a floor at 3 Stars and a Sun but later removed it because I’ve read some discussion about the use of mega prims in Second Life’s Forum.
Yesterday, my new neighbor placed a really huge prim that totally blocked my building from his land’s view. Again, I got interested with mega prims so I immediately contacted my land lord, Richard Palace, to ask permission to use mega prims on the land I’m renting. He gave me permission as long as it will not affect the sim’s overall performance and he also sent over a big collection of mega prims that I can use. He also told me, after asking him, that he was also using mega prims on his sims.
I went over the collection of mega prims he gave and found the mega prims I needed. 1 20×20x0.3 and 1 20×10x0.3 mega prims and I replaced all the floors and ceiling with it. Before my floors and ceiling use a total of 24 prims but after replacing them with mega prims, it went down to 8 and I was able to save 16 prims which I can use for other more important objects.
To monitor the sims performance I acquired a HUD that displays the sims FPS and dilation. As of now, I have yet to see any problems brought by the mega prims I used.
