A few weeks ago, The Spartan Empire sim had done some re-building and today a new and much better Sparta re-opens. The opening was celebrated with a whole day of scheduled events from Scavenger Hunts to Tournaments and Fighting and it will be ended with a screening of the movie 300.

Entering The City

The entrance and landing area to the City of Sparta has been greatly improved. It is now much welcoming than before. Visitors can get an immediate copy of the Rules, Landmark and get invited to The Spartan Empire group by simply clicking on the sign that says “Spartan Rules”. A box with outfits is also available at the entrance for only 0L$, in other words its FREE! ^_^

As always, the entrance is lined up with vendors and shops but, unlike before, they are now much better laid out. Here you’ll find an assortment of items for sale. Weapons, clothings, furnitures, armors, etc. If you wish to acquire a vendor space or a shop space in Sparta then please kindly IM Jackie Balbozar or mikeD Streeter.

Fighting

As I’ve said, the re-opening of Sparta was also celebrated with some fighting and one of those were Caged Fighting aptly named Well of Sorrow Cage Match. This is the first time I’ve seen this kind of fighting in Sparta and it drew quite a number of spectators and participants.

Here we see some of the participants like Greg McBride and Smilodon Carver. The Queen of Sparta, Jackie Balbozar, was also in attendance. The fight was hosted by Gracie Roelofs.

What’s interesting about this cage match is that it was done over the PIT. If you fall into the pit then that’s it for you. Now, the fighters won’t just have to contend with the small enclosed space, they’ll also have to deal with the pit at the center of the cage.

What about the Arena? Well, the Arena is still there of course. It was just wasn’t used for the cage match but regular fights and matches are still held there.

New Things

The re-building of The Spartan Empire sim really gave it more space for other things that improved the overall look and feel of the place like places to relax and unwind (see screenshots).

One of the place that I kinda like is the one with the ballroom setup because it look really classy. LOL! I guess that is where they do all their formal gatherings.

Make It Your Home

Having your home here in The Spartan Empire sim is not impossible. In fact, you can make it your home by renting one of the many Spartan houses that surrounds the entire sim. They are situated on top of the hills, with nice paved roads and a good view of the sea and of the entire city.

Many Spartans have already made their homes here but there are still more houses available for you if you choose to make Sparta your home.

Activities

Besides fighting, The Spartan Empire also holds RP Classes which are scheduled every Saturdays and Sundays. So, if you would like to learn more about Role Playing in Second Life then The Spartan Empire is the place for it. The classes are open to anyone who is interested in Role Playing in Sparta.

Other activities or events are also held in Sparta but the best way to be updated about it is by joining The Spartan Empire group.

A New Beginning

The new Sparta is 10 times much better than the old Sparta, at least, in terms of look and visual appeal. It is more spacious and it does not feel like a labyrinth anymore. Moving from one location to another is now much easier than before. I still remembeer getting lost while walking to the Arena but not anymore. LOL!

As for those running the sim, they’ve always been great people and that’s what really matters. You can have the best looking sim in Second Life but if the people who run it suck then the sim sucks as well.
