Second Life

Arrgghhh! What’s wrong with Second life?

These past few days I found my Second Life plagued with slow movements, high packet loss, rezzing failure, disconnection, crashes, missing assets, inability to login, getting trapped in a logout loop and others but the worst of them all is the extreme lag. The grid is so laggy and choppy that it took me 6 or 8 hours to accomplish easy tasks like building and moving really simple objects.

Second Life

At first I thought that it could be my connection but visiting Second Life’s blog I found out that Second Life is experiencing a lot of stability and server issues like the following:

Wow! Four issues within a few days. Good thing I still have a First Life to worry about because if not I would be sitting on my chair pulling my hairs out right now (LOL). What really annoys me is that I don’t spend that much time anymore in-world and then all these happen during my in-world time. I wasn’t able to explore new places. I wasn’t able to search for new camping spots and it took me too much time to renovate 3 Stars and a Sun.

Eventhough those above listed issues were already marked as resolved in Second Life’s official blog, I feel that the grid is still not that stable. I’m still experiencing some lag spikes from time to time but it is stable enough to allow me to build and rearrange some objects at 3 Stars and a Sun.

Everyone is welcome to drop by at 3 Stars and a Sun. I’ve re-textured the inside of the place. It now features an ocean infinity look and I’ve also added some Christmas decorations to spice up the place.

Anyway, I hope that tomorrow’s rolling restart makes everyone’s Second Life worth living again. :)

Additional Useful InformationOf course, slow performance and crashes could also mean it’s time to fix the laptop.  This doesn’t have to be a big deal. You might even be able to salvage your old laptop computer with a laptop repair service. The net is a great place to get awesome prices on computer parts such as laptop hard drives, DC power adaptors and a laptop battery that won’t burn out at the wrong time!

Blah! Blah! Blah!, Second Life, Virtual Life

The Missing Blog

Second Life

First there was the case of “The Missing Avatar” and now it’s a “Missing Blog”.

Chino Yalin, a Second Life Blogger who blogs about Free Lindens in Second Life, posted in his blog that his avatar mysteriously vanish. Searchng for his name using Second Life’s people search resulted to nothing. Oh my! I’m guessing that this could be another one of Second Life’s many bugs. A while back, I encountered a bug that trapped one of my avatars in an endless loop of logging out and I’m happy to report that he is now FREE.

It was posted a few hours ago at Second Life’s official blog that 1,100 regions went offline because of some grid failure thingy. It is possible that Chino’s avatar went missing together with the 1,100 regions that went down. LOL! Well, the regions are now back up but Chino’s avatar is still missing which means a different bug caused Chino’s avatar to disappear.

But wait, that’s not all that’s missing. I went to check Chino’s blog just now to check on the progress of the Missing Avatar case (I’ve read that Detective Taylor of CSI:New York is on the case, LOL!) to find the blog gone. What greeted me was a Wordpress Error page. Wow! When something goes bad, everything goes bad with it.

Wordpress Error

Anyway, I do hope that Chino recovers his avatar because that’s a very rich avatar. Losing it will be a waste of thousands of Linden Dollars. LOL! Joking aside, I hope he recovers it.

For his blog, my guess is that his web host is experiencing some technical problems with their servers or maybe it’s time for Chino to get a dedicated server to be able to serve his thousands of readers everyday. A shared hosting plan won’t be able to handle the enormous load a high traffic site brings.

Avatar Found: It seems that Linden Labs Police Department is holding Chino’s avatar for questioning and has set bail for 25$ (real US dollars). LOL! Linden Labs should really clear that 25$ issue with Chino’s account. Best of luck with the case! :)

Living A Second Life

More Value for your Ads

Second Life

Ad Spaces are available for rent at 3 Stars and a Sun. I added this service to help support and keep the place up. Current rates are:

  • Old Advertisers (those who availed the Intro Offer) : 10L$/Week
  • New Advertisers will be charged 20L$/Week

But your Ads at 3 Stars and a Sun get more value because if you rent an Ad Space at 3 Stars and a Sun a brief or summary of your Ad will also be randomly displayed here at my blog and once I updated MMORPGREALM.com then your Ads will also be rotated there. I think this kind of additional service exists only at 3 Stars and a Sun.

At 3 Stars and a Sun, you are not only advertising your service and business in-world but also in the real world. So, come on over at 3 Stars and a Sun and grab those Ad Spaces.
