Making a 7Seas Custom Fish from a STARAX fish!

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

I’ve been making custom 7Seas stuff for myself even before 7Seas officially released their Custom Development Kit (OpenSeas, OpenRod and Custom Prize Givers). The very first one was a fishing wand which I made for another 7Seas fisher. This fisher was also the one who told me that the scripts inside the rods can be transferred into a different object making that object a fishing rod. That was how the Fishing Wand came to be.

Immediately after finishing the wand, I transferred my own rod scripts into a sword that I created. Changed all of the animations into sword wielding ones and my first Fishing Sword was born. Unfortunately, the community saw my new fishing sword and reported me for cheating. They thought that the sword was making me win all the time. Ha ha ha! Seven Shikami checked my sword and cleared my name of all charges.

A custom fish made from a STARAX fish!

Today, I will try my best to show everyone how to make a simple 7Seas compatible Custom Fish using a now freebie fish by the legendary STARAX. Look at the above 7Seas custom fish. It has spinning tails, it changes colors and its texture is different but under all those modifications is a STARAX fish. (more…)

My Fishing Dungeon

Monday, July 21st, 2008

My castle, which is located in the Animate Me Poseballs sim, has three levels. The dungeon, the main area and the throne room. The throne room is like my personal space. the main area is where all my vendors and affiliate vendors are placed and the dungeon was once a place where I put freebies. Now, since I don’t have that much freebies to giveaway, I decided to change the dungeon into something else.

My Fishing Dungeon

The idea of changing the dungeon into a fishing area just came out of nowhere. I then went to build a very simple fishing pool with 8 chairs around it and placed it in my dungeon. If King Arthur has “The Round Table” in his castle then in my castle I have “The Round Fishing Pool”. (more…)

Building A Home In Second Life

Monday, June 30th, 2008

When I first tried Second Life, I didn’t quite get it and left it the same day but the second time I tried it I finally did maybe because I was better informed and got the chance to learn more about it. As I explore this virtual world I learned a lot about it and have met a lot of people who actually live their lives and spend most of their time in it, a Second Life.

Update To My Little Philippines

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Last week, my very helpful landlord sent all my objects back to me. No, he was not evicting me but instead he was helping me with some problems on the land where my place is located. The problem was, while working on My Little Philippines, I tried to rez some grass by dragging it on the ground. The grass didn’t rez so I tried again and every time it didn’t rez I will try again and again. What I didn’t notice was that even though the grass didn’t rez it still used a prim bringing my prim number closer to the limit. This was clearly a bug and after trying everything we can my landlord suggested to clear the parcel of all my objects by returning them to me and then just rebuild or put everything back. At first I didn’t want to do it but because there was no other way I agreed to it.

All my objects were returned to me which cleared the land of all the objects including the bugged grass objects. I then started to put everything back. Putting the objects back wasn’t that difficult because when I got them they were already grouped so I just drag it back out of my inventory and, while everything was still selected, positioned it to its original place.

I also took the opportunity to update My Little Philippines by placing it inside my building and transforming it as the third level of the place.

I also moved some of the objects around and changed the Bahay Kubo. I’m almost out of prim but I still want to put some more objects in. I’ve also added a very simple Mini Monument of Rizal and on it is a “Proud To Be A Pinoy” Badge giver. If you touch it, you will be given a badge with the Philippine flag and the words “Proud To Be A Pinoy” on it.

I wanted to add some more objects like rocks, small plants and even animals to add more texture to the place but because of my prim limit I can’t. Anyway, I’m happy with the place and have set the landing point there.

It may not be the most amazing place or location in Second Life but it is my home and I love it! ;)

Mysterious Windlight Bug

Monday, December 10th, 2007

I kinda like the Windlight First Look Viewer than the standard viewer because I feel that it’s more stable and loads faster but it does have some bugs in it too. A few days ago Linden Labs released another update to Windlight and it includes some bug fixes but there is one bug that keeps happening to me and that is the disappearing objects bug.

Well, the objects were not really disappearing because they are still there physically but visually they are gone. At first, I thought that the viewer could be reloading them but that was not the case. The objects were already loaded and I can select them. The only problem was that I can’t seem to see any of them once they disappear and the objects were not transparent.

It’s not a major issue because it can be fixed by logging out and logging back in but it can be sometimes annoying to suddenly see your building without a wall. LOL!

And another thing I like about the Windlight First Look Viewer, the save a movie feature works but I feel that they should add some few options in there like the ones found in the save a snapshot screen. They can also add an indicator, somewhere on the screen, to tell you that you are currently recording because I don’t see any recording indicator anywhere. I don’t know if there is an option to turn it on, if that option exist, because I haven’t found it yet. Right now, I’m just using my memory to remember if I’m on recording more or not.
