Slapt.me, an alternative online marketplace for Second Life, posted on their Twitter account about a new system or device that can detect and ban those who use copybot viewers like Neillife and others. The device is called [GEMINI Cybernetics] Client Detection System / CDS Ban Relay 1.9 and it claims that it can detect and ban anyone who uses a copybot viewer.
![[GEMINI Cybernetics] Client Detection System / CDS Ban Relay 1.9 / 1 month license [GEMINI Cybernetics] Client Detection System / CDS Ban Relay 1.9 / 1 month license](http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/4217/e31bab02629a3ff07ab0322.jpg)
This new device or system is NOT FREE and uses a licensing fee structure. For example, the license fee to use the system for a month would cost you 700L$. Think of it like a subscription. It’s like paying a monthly subscription fee to use the system. Does it work? Unfortunately, I have no idea but if you are interested in such a device or system then you can learn more about it on slapt.me and on xstreetsl.com. (more…)

I saw a YouTube video of this viewer posted in a forum. The video showed some of the things HXO Life can do like copying animations and sounds played by other residents, copying shapes, skins and clothes of other residents as well as copying objects created by other residents.

The video featured a resident named HXO Aboubakar. He was in a Sandbox Region where he victimized a few residents and then crashed the sim afterwards. I couldn’t get the name of the sim where the Sandbox is but I did get the names of the residents he victimized. (more…)

I stumbled upon this website today while searching for more information about content theft in Second Life. This particular website features and sell a program named Inventory Backup. It uses the term backup but it’s actually nothing more than a copybot program because a true backup tool will only allow you to make backup copies of content you created.

One of the selling point made by this particular program is that it is legal and was approved by Linden Lab’s legal team. Now, the funny part is if it’s legal and approved by Linden Lab then why is there a sign in there in-world store saying something about a dispute with Second Life? Makes you think otherwise eh? (more…)

Copybotters are really getting more and more blatant and open with their copybotting activities in Second Life. I guess they feel that Linden Labs doesn’t really care about content theft and copybotting in general making them feel more confident to continue with what they’re doing. This morning, my time, I stumbled upon a blog created by a CopyBotter. In this blog, he gives away what he has copybotted for free. How? By allowing visitors to download the XML file of these copybotted objects.

Importing objects from an XML file back to Second Life is as easy as uploading a texture. Of course, you’ll have to use a viewer that has that feature enabled like Meerkat or Greenlife Emerald. (more…)

The tools for stealing content in Second Life become more and more advance each passing day. It started with text only clients which are really not that easy to use to the current ones which are full SL viewers that makes stealing content as easy as clicking a button. Before, all you can steal are baked textures and prim objects but now almost anything can be stolen (textures, sounds, scripts and even animations).
I still remember when many forum posters in the now closed XstreetSL.com forum deny the existence of CopyBot. Going as far as attacking those who became victims of it and were starting threads about it. They kept saying that it doesn’t exist. Well, for something that doesn’t exist it sure is getting a lot of attention lately. (more…)
