My home in Second Life is at Animate Me Poseballs which is somewhat connected to Dark Century’s first sim but today, while checking the RPG Empire continent, I noticed that the area is blank. At first, I thought it was just a rolling re-start or something like that but hours later the location where Dark Century I and II are located are still blank. I clicked on the grid square and what displayed is an “Offline” message. This is somewhat weird since I have not receive any notice about Dark Century closing or moving.

What I did next was, I went to The Spartan Empire and walked to the edge of the sim that faces Dark Century I. As I was nearing the edge, I was kinda expecting to see land masses form as I get nearer but nothing appeared. When I finally reached the edge, what greeted me was an open sea. No land mass! The fourth day of the 100,000L$ Tournament will be held at Dark Century on October 04, 2008 at exactly 12:00PM SLT (Second Life Time). To prepare Dark Century for the event, the owner of the sim, mikeD Streeter, removed the old arena and replaced it with a much bigger and better one.

Dark Century’s New Arena

The new arena is a creation of Marcello Oh and it’s twice as big and twice as dark as the old one. I like the old arena but it was a little bit crowded. The new arena has twice the space of the old. This will give the fighers some freedom to move around and avoid getting hit. It seems that mikeD Streeter has been working hard on Dark Century’s second sim, Dark Century II. This time, he totally re-designed the place and turned it into something that is not so dark. The description I got was that it’s a fairytale land for residential purposes but I think it needs a little more color before it can be really called a fairytale land.

Dark Century made some changes to their Arena and the most noticeable one is its color. Before, the textures of the wooden boards used on the platform were dark colored but now it has a much lighter color which kinda gave the Arena some life. Life? Ain’t this supposed to be Dark Century? Anyway, I like it because now I can see where I’m walking! LOL!

I received a message from mikeD Streeter informing me about the closure of two RPG Empire sims, Scotland Highlands and Ireland RP. He didn’t give me the reasons for the closure of the two sims but in an Open Letter sent to everyone as a Group Notice, he explained why the two sims were closed.

After reading the letter, I can understand why they were closed but I guess for some the decision won’t be that easy to understand. The points mentioned in the Open Letter are:

• sims within RPG Empire should have good RP between each other
• tiers were not renewed
