Maze Fighting

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

I was at my place working on a new Candy Cane Rod when I received a rare group notice from The Roman Empire group. The notice was for a Free For All Tournament at the Roman Colosseum. What got me interested in this Free For All was that participating fighters or gladiators will fight inside a Maze. It was the first time I’ve heard of such thing so I went to [The Roman Empire] sim to check it out.

View of the Maze from the third level of the Colosseum!

Before leaving for The Roman Empire sim, I activated my *ROMAN GLADIATOR* tag and wore my Gladiator outfit. In the Colosseum, a huge maze that covers the entire ground of the Arena greeted me. Some Romans were already there but I avoided them by climbing up on the third level of the Colosseum. (more…)

Gladiators Of Rome

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Today, I spent a few minutes at The Roman Empire region in Second Life to take a few video clips of the on-going Gladiator Fights. I used the video clips I took of the fight to create a simple music video which I then submitted to Koinup as an entry to their 1st. Second Life Music Videos Contest.

Well, the video featured the Gladiators of Rome and the on-going Gladiator Fights. I also took clips of the Cage Match but the cage didn’t fully rezzed which caused it to look really terrible so I didn’t put that in the video. (more…)

Weapons With 10 Meter Ranges

Christmas Tournament

Today, I logged Kabalyero Kidd in to participate in The Roman Empire’s Christmas Tournament. Unfortunately, only four gladiators entered the Tournament and they were:

  • Blackwell Huet
  • Sadie Flanagan
  • Scipio Tuqiri
  • and Kabalyero Kidd (my avatar)

I had the honor of fighting Sir Scipio in the first round and I was lucky enough to emerged the victor of that match. The second and third round wasn’t very fruitful because I have to fight two of Rome’s great gladiators; Sir Blackwell and Lady Sadie. I was defeated in a matter of minutes (or was it just seconds) by both of them.

The final match was between Lady Sadie and Sir Blackwell. It was an intense battle. Lady Sadie put up a great fight but Sir Blackwell emerged the victor. His prize as Champion of the Christmas Tournament was a Gladius.

Sir Enrich immediately called all the gladiators and gave an order to attack Sir Blackwell but it was fruitless. Sir Blackwell defeated us all.

10 Meters? Could be even more!

After the tournament, I spent some time inside the Coliseum waiting for someone to spar with. I love to spar and practice because I want to be a great champion like Sir Blackwell too. LOL! After a while, a warrior came and asked to spar with me. The warrior’s name was Gabe Liotta. His weapon of choice was a spear but it was no ordinary spear for it has a great range and I used my sparring weapon, a Kendo Stick. Our next fight was even weirder because I was like 10 meters away from him (even more I think) and still he was landing massive strikes on me. I ask him to hold because it was really weird but he continued his attacks. He then ran away after the fight.

Later, Sir Enrich explained that my opponent, Gabe Liotta, was using a modified spear and that 10 meter ranges are a common modification. Arrgghhh! No wonder he did not like to be addressed as Sir, he wasn’t worthy of the title. LOL! Not even my legally enhanced Hellfire sword would be a match to a spear with a range of 10 meters (or even more). I have learned from that experience that such weapons exist and not all warriors fight with HONOR. I have added Gabe Liotta to my list of dishonorable warriors in Second Life (the first one) and will never spar with him again even in a level playing field.

Burning Down Nordhaven

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

After receiving a group notice from The Roman Empire group. I immediately logged in to check what it’s about but when I got there they were already on their way to Nordhaven. Well, Nordhaven is another RP/Combat sim much like The Roman Empire but instead of gladiators they have vikings, vampires, lycans, elves, witches and mercenaries.

The group was compose of the following Romans:

  • Enrich Halasy
  • Dacalen Carlberg
  • Giovanni Aleveaux
  • Brunothemaddog Harbinger
  • Welcome Tomorrow (arrived a little later)
  • Sadie Flanagan (arrived a little later)

The place was empty when we got there. It was as quiet as a ghost town. The group decided to wait a while but while we were waiting one of the building suddenly went to flames. I later found out that we started the fire. LOL! The flames immediately spread all around the surrounding buildings and soon the immediate area was burning like hell.

I believe that the act of setting Nordhaven to flames was like a declaration of war or a challenge from the Romans to Nordhaven. Just to let everyone know that we weren’t griefing. The flames were removed afterwards.

Gladiator Fights (Video)

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

As promised, I made a simple video of the Gladiator Fights that I’ve witnessed at The Roman Empire. The video is more than 4 minutes long and it contains video clips of some of the fights and some of the Gladiators. It’s also been compressed to save disk space and for ease of upload to YouTube.
