Watchout sionChickens, Here Comes Petable Turtles

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Raising, farming and/or breeding virtual animals like sionChickens is very interesting for me. It has a certain appeal that attracts me to it but unfortunately I had to give it up because it is too darn expensive. At first, I thought I could make a few linden dollars breeding eggs but it was not the case. In the end, my expenses from the entire operation outweigh any returns I make. It was not profitable enough. In fact, I make more in selling chicken related stuff like coops, pens, farm sets and others. So, I stopped raising sionChickens and just stick with making chicken related items.

Me at Petable Store

Because of the high-cost of raising sionChickens, other creators took the concept of sionChickens and created their own breedable animals. Thus, Petable Turtles was born. Petable is a brand created by two Second Life residents which currently carries one type of pet and that is the Turtle. Additional types of pets are planned in the future. (more…)

Still Earning Linden Dollars with Earn2Life

Monday, October 13th, 2008

I haven’t checked my Earn2Life account for quite sometime now and when I did check it I found out that I have 1190L$ available for withdrawal. WOW! I didn’t realize that I have such an amount sitting there. Again, it’s not much but, again, I’ll take it any day.

1190L$ Available for Withdrawal

1190L$ Available for Withdrawal

There are many ways of earning linden dollars with Earn2Life like completing offers, adding profile picks, getting paid to visit places in Second Life, referring new members, contests and others. I don’t do web offers that often so I don’t think that amount came from that. My guess is that it came from referring new members. (more…)

Auto Fishing HUD or Trainer

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

I logged in today in Second Life to be greeted by a 7Seas Social Chat group discussion about fishing bots. The exchange of thought was surprising and it seems that most, if not all, are against the use of this fishing bot. I know sooner or later someone would come up with something like a fishing bot since fishing marathons are becoming a very common thing with 7Seas Fishing Game. In fact, I also run a daily fishing marathon at my place. Before, I would start the prize pot at 100L$ but I got broke so I had to changed it to an Open Prize Pot fishing marathon that is, if someone donates to the pot then the participants will get some prize money at the end. Of course, no one hardly donates so most fishers don’t fish at my marathon anymore except when there’s a substantial amount of linden dollars in the prize pot.

Some familiar names are on it like Sal, Skinny and Genevive!

Some familiar names are on it like Sal, Skinny and Genevive! LOL! They are very popular indeed! :)

Back to the fishing bot, after I logged off I immediately searched for this so called fishing bot and eventually I found it at [SLExchange]. The bot is actually an auto-fishing HUD called Fishing Helper HUD. Wow! Fishing Helper? I guess fishing is so hard for some people that they need a HUD to help them fish. Ha ha ha! This particular HUD will not work with the standard Second Life viewer. Nope! It needs an alternative Second Life viewer namely the RestrainedLife SL Viewer. Eversince Linden Labs made the viewer open source alternative viewers have surfaced and the RestrainedLife viewer is one of them. (more…)

Winterfest 2007 Has Begun

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Actually, Winterfest 2007 started 2 days ago but today I went to visit Chalet Linden to get a HUD and Voss (which is just next to it) to take a look at the snowmen created at the Snowman Making Contest.

There are some people hanging out at Chalet Linden. At first, I thought that Chalet Linden is a name of a person or avatar but it’s not, it’s the name of the place. The Winterfest Kiosk is just near the landing point and touching it will give you Winterfest 2007 shirts and a HUD. You can use the HUD to visit the many places and events scheduled for Winterfest 2007.

Inside the lodge sat Santa Claus and I took the opportunity to sit on his lap and tell him what I want this Christmas. LOL! By the way, outside the lodge stands Miss Santa but I’m not sure if she is part of the attraction.

Just behind the lodge is Voss where the Snowman Making Contest was held. There you’ll see all the snowmen that were built in the contest. Right next to it is a platform leading to a cabin but before you get there you’ll see some nice displays like the Abominable Snowman and Dark Santa Claus.

Winterfest 2007 has just started and their are various activities and events which you can participate in. Just get a copy of the HUD and you’ll be on your way to a Very Merry Christmas in Second Life.

A Gift From Hilton Harpoon

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

Today Hilton Harpoon announced at SLExchange’s Forum that he will give the first 50 people who posted a gift. The gift was his HRN Teleport HUD which has a tag prize of 999L$. A simple instruction on how to request a gift was also posted and I’m lucky enough to be the very first member to post a request.

Here are some info regarding the HUD:

The HRN Teleport HUD is a Second Life device that will allow you to save any locations in Second Life in a quick and simple manner. It will also allow the owner to share the saved locations with a friend list by sending them an slurl by instant message of every location saved, and may give saved locations to avatars in a 90 meter range of the owner.

The HRN Teleport HUD allows the owner to change it’s color from 3 possible choices, white, grey and black, and will also allow the owner to set the transparency level of the device to make it less visible.

The owner of the HRN Teleport HUD may chose to sell this software to other avatars directly from the HUD, the owner will earn 33% of the current value of the HUD, directly and automatically paid at the time the sale is made.

The HRN Teleport HUD comes equipped with an automatic update script that may be activated in the HUD’s Menu system and will deliver the most recent version of this product to it’s owner. Updates are free of charge.

I see that this device will help me in my exploration of Second Life. I’ve got so many landmarks already that it’s becoming a job just to look at it and search it.

Again, I got this from the creator Hilton Harpoon as a gift but you can buy one at SLExchange for 999L$.

Unfortunately, the creator was met by some forum members with hostility and hate. Accusing the creator of this and that. It’s just sad that instead of being appreciative and thankful they try to color the thread with malice and suspicion. *sigh*

If only people can learn to respect each other then this world will be a much better place to live in. If that happens then we won’t even need a Second Life.
