Impromptu Maypole Party

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

A couple of days ago I got a group notice from [The Roman Empire] about an OOC Maypole Party in-front of the Roman Colosseum. What the heck is a Maypole? My curiosity made me teleport to The Roman Empire to see for myself. There, I saw in-front of the Colosseum, a group of people on a spinning Maypole but, unfortunately, that did not answer my question. I asked if it’s a requirement even for guests and visitors because as far as I know guests and visitors are not required to be in period clothing. The answer I got was (and I quote), “its my preference isnt that enough“. Whoa! The tone of the sentence was not friendly at all so, since I don’t want to cause any problems, I just said farewell.

My last snapshot for now!

My last snapshot for now!

Afterwards, I sent an instant message to the Empress of Rome to ask if period clothing is now required when visiting The Roman Empire because I don’t want to cause problems in their RP and to avoid experiences like that. The Empress said that I am welcome to come and wear anything in The Roman Empire which is a relief because I like The Roman Empire. Eventhough, most of everyone I know there are gone I still consider it one of my home in Second Life. (more…)
