The tools for stealing content in Second Life become more and more advance each passing day. It started with text only clients which are really not that easy to use to the current ones which are full SL viewers that makes stealing content as easy as clicking a button. Before, all you can steal are baked textures and prim objects but now almost anything can be stolen (textures, sounds, scripts and even animations).
I still remember when many forum posters in the now closed XstreetSL.com forum deny the existence of CopyBot. Going as far as attacking those who became victims of it and were starting threads about it. They kept saying that it doesn’t exist. Well, for something that doesn’t exist it sure is getting a lot of attention lately. (more…)

It started with the chickens then came the turtles by Petable which will be followed shortly by bunnies by OziMals and HunnyBunny and soon we will have breeding pet fishes by 7Seas. I found out about it a few weeks back while updating my Custom Items thread in their forum. I decided to check out the announcement forum and fish breeding was mentioned in their “Team Fishing Upgrades Released! (And More To Come…)” thread.
You asked for it. You want it. You’re getting it. FISH BREEDING.
More details will be coming — we still have a lot of work to do on this! — but the basic idea is that it gives you a reason to wear and show off your fish. Wear a Mama fish and a Papa fish of the same species, and after some time swimming together, you’ll get an adorable little Baby fish! Combine different colors to get different babies!
Hunt elusive rare baby breeds — and earn Family Points to increase your odds of finding rares! Will you be the first person in SL with enough determination (and utter insanity) to reach the highest rank of fish breeders? We shall see… again, no ETA on this, but we’re working on it!

There was also some talk about releasing some kind of open source scripts so that fishing area owners can make their own breedable fish. I’m not 100% sure about this one but if it’s true then it’s something I can definitely play with. I’m not a scripter or coder by the way but I can still make new customs from it if they are indeed released as open source. (more…)

I logged in today in Second Life to be greeted by a 7Seas Social Chat group discussion about fishing bots. The exchange of thought was surprising and it seems that most, if not all, are against the use of this fishing bot. I know sooner or later someone would come up with something like a fishing bot since fishing marathons are becoming a very common thing with 7Seas Fishing Game. In fact, I also run a daily fishing marathon at my place. Before, I would start the prize pot at 100L$ but I got broke so I had to changed it to an Open Prize Pot fishing marathon that is, if someone donates to the pot then the participants will get some prize money at the end. Of course, no one hardly donates so most fishers don’t fish at my marathon anymore except when there’s a substantial amount of linden dollars in the prize pot.

Some familiar names are on it like Sal, Skinny and Genevive! LOL! They are very popular indeed!
Back to the fishing bot, after I logged off I immediately searched for this so called fishing bot and eventually I found it at [SLExchange]. The bot is actually an auto-fishing HUD called Fishing Helper HUD. Wow! Fishing Helper? I guess fishing is so hard for some people that they need a HUD to help them fish. Ha ha ha! This particular HUD will not work with the standard Second Life viewer. Nope! It needs an alternative Second Life viewer namely the RestrainedLife SL Viewer. Eversince Linden Labs made the viewer open source alternative viewers have surfaced and the RestrainedLife viewer is one of them. (more…)

Bots in Second Life are third party programs used to access the server to perform and automate various tasks like camping, group joining, greeting and even copying/cloning. They are based on LibSecondLife’s code, which is Open Source, and are very lightweight since they’re text only. Unlike, those bots found in mmorpgs and other online games, bots in Second Life are allowed by Linden Labs.
Bots have many useful uses but they also have some not so good use like copying other people’s objects and textures. In this post I will list all the Second Life Bots that I know and provide a little info about them. (more…)

While browsing SLExchange’s marketplace for FREE goodies, I stumbled on a very cool Open Source Book Making Script. I immediately purchased it and tested it in-world and it seems to be working fine. Now, this new discovery gave me an idea to create a Second Life magazine (as if we need another one, LOL) and the topic I chose was RPG Empires.

Excited about my new project, I quickly started on designing the pages of the magazine in Photoshop. I finished five pages and uploaded it into Second Life and then applied it to the Book Maker. The process was really simple and after that I sent a copy to mikeD Streeter, owner of RPG Empires, to get his input on the project. (more…)
