Ruthed! Deruthed!

Speaking of being Ruthed ((having the appearance of Second Life’s default avatar Ruth)) I found my main avatar, Rom Ireton, Ruthed when I logged in to check on him today. Good thing I was wearing Dougal Jacob’s Autoderuth HUD but I decided to wait a few minutes to see if my shape will load before using the tool but my shape didn’t load.Using the tool, Autoderuth, wasn’t able to fix my appearance the first time. It took 2 or 3 more tries before it worked and that means being launched like a rocket up into the sky 2 to 3 times.

Too bad I missed the Ruthed! event last October 14, 2007. I have a lot of Ruthed photos of both Kabalyero Kidd and Rom Ireton. I think everyone has experienced this Second Life bug even the newbies that visited CSI:New York in-world got a taste of Ruth. LOL!

I believe Ruthing isn’t a big concern with most residents because you can always relog and that usually fixes it but viewer crashes, lag, inventory loss, failure to rez, inaccessible accounts and other performance issues are far more serious concerns which should be resolved ASAP. At least for Ruthing we have Autoderuth.

Say Goodbye to Ruth with Autoderuth by Dougal Jacobs

Ruth is the default Second Life avatar shape and sometimes (hopefully, not often) you’ll find or see your avatar Ruthed ((Ruthed means having the default Second Life shape)). This happens when your avatar didn’t load properly or failed to load due to lag and/or due to other forms of Second Life problems.

It’s really freaky, specially for male avatars, seeing yourself with boobs. Ewwwww!

Now you can say goodbye to Ruth with Autoderuth by Dougal Jacobs. I found a post about it at Linden Lifestyles and thought that it’s a pretty nice tool to have since I sometimes also experience this Ruthing thing.

Autoderuth is a simple HUD which you have to wear and click to fix your appearance. Don’t be surprised if you are launched way up into the sky. According to Dougal Jacobs, “that’s how it works”. I don’t know the technicality or the science behind it but if it can fix my appearance or fix how I look to others then I guess being launched like a rocket up into the sky is not a big problem.
