Another Useless Land Purchase

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

A few days ago, I spent a lot of time searching for land to rent or buy. I was looking for an affordable land in a private estate where I can move my fishing area, shop and chickens. Most of the private land I visited has very strict covenant which will not allow most of the things I have (specially the chickens). I was about to give up searching for the perfect private land that will cater to my use when I was contacted by Silver Colman of Silver Real Estate. I happened to visit a private land he had for sale at that time and he then later contacted me to ask if I was looking to rent or buy.

The land I purchased at Silver City...

I was able to meet with him in-world where we were able to talked about my land needs. He was a very nice and accommodating person and during our conversation I asked him if he allows chickens on his sim. He was not familiar with them so I teleported him to where I was keeping my chickens (so he can see them). He even showed me a new trick with the Advance Menu but eventually he said YES to allowing chickens on his sim. During this pre-sales talk, he did not mention anything about the number of chickens I can have on the land or any other restrictions. He said that they were okay (the chickens). (more…)

Is SL Pay A Scam?

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Today, I visited SL Pay and tried to log in to my account but for some reason it keeps telling me this, “Bad Username, please try again”. I also noticed that Google marked SL Pay’s search listing with, “This site may harm your computer”, and upon checking I saw that SL Pay has a Pay-Ads.com banner on its homepage. For those who don’t know, Pay-Ads.com’s banner is also a gateway which they use to install malware into your computer and it will also redirect your visitors to bad sites (mostly porn sites). Read “Beware of Pay-Ads.com” to learn more about this fraud. (more…)

Say Bye Bye To Banks

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

Wow! Linden Labs did something right this time. You ask what it is? Well, in a post by Ken D Linden at Second Life’s Official Blog as of January 22, 2008 virtual banks in Second Life will seize to exist. Quoted text below:

As of January 22, 2008, it will be prohibited to offer interest or any direct return on an investment (whether in L$ or other currency) from any object, such as an ATM, located in Second Life, without proof of an applicable government registration statement or financial institution charter.

I guess those virtual banks who can show proof can stay but as far as I know, with regards to banks, banks in Second Life have no actual affiliation to any real life banks anywhere in the world or that they are accredited or licensed to operate by any government. In fact, many, if not most or even all, of them are operated by average people like you and me with no real banking experience whatsoever. (more…)
