City of Rome

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

A few days ago I had a chance to visit the City of Rome and I didn’t go to Italy to get there. LOL! The City of Rome is a new region under RPG Empire and it is connected to [The Roman Empire] region. If the information I got are correct then the City of Rome was once called Medevil England (Medieval England). I guess the Romans have finally conquered it for good and made it their own.

The Emperor of The Roman Empire

The entrance to the City of Rome clearly states that the region is strictly Role Play only. I don’t know how strict will this rule be enforced (coz’ I see a lot of Romans speak in OOC all the time) but as a visitor to the City of Rome and [The Roman Empire] it is best to follow the rules to avoid problems discomfort and drama! A Sim Named Medevil England

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Medevil? I guess it’s supposed to be Medieval England because the latter is the name of the place although the sim’s name is Medevil England. Anyway, Medevil or Medieval England it doesn’t really matter, what matter is that it’s a region under RPG Empires in Second Life.

Medieval England

Medieval England

Medieval England is ruled by Enrich Halasy (former Emperor of Rome) together with her partner PhillipaKate Beresford. Currently, both them are away tending to some RL (real life) matters but that didn’t stop the activities and events in Medieval England. (more…)

Wimbledon in SL, A Quick Look

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

I’ve seen Wrestling Rings, Boxing Rings, Ancient Coliseums, Combat Arenas, Basketball Courts, and other sporting locations but this time I took a quick look at IBM’s Winbledon Tennis Court in Second Life.

Wimbledon in Second Life

What can I say? IBM did an amazing job at it. The tennis court looks amazingly real and it even has two dummy players playing on it. In fact, you can even be one of the dummies but right-clicking on one of them and then selecting Sit. Your avatar will then replace the dummy. Unfortunately, you can’t actually control what’s happening. You’ll just be a replacement for the dummy. LOL! (more…)

The Land Called Samurai Japan

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

This week, I had the chance to visit mikeD Streeter’s latest Role Play region/sim in Second Life, the land called Samurai Japan. Obviously, Samurai Japan is a region greatly inspired by ancient Japan, although, I’m not particularly sure what time period was it actually based on but I can safely say that it’s based on a  very old Japan. You know, that period in time when Samurais and Ninjas exist, where people live and die by the sword and where code and honor is above everything else.

I learned about Samurai Japan from a group announcement sent through The Roman Empire group (SL Roman Empire) which is also a owned by mikeD Streeter. The group notice contained a landmark that took me to Samurai Japan. (more…)

The Roman Empire

The lovely Venus of Rome, PhillipaKate Beresford, was very kind enough to take me around The Roman Empire. I went there to witness the Gladiator Fights but ended up touring the city with a lovely lady. I’m no historian but we all know that Rome is not just home to a mighty empire but it is also a magnificent city and during its time, flourished with wisdom, knowledge, culture, literature and art.

To start the tour, The Venus of Rome, showed me the Residence of the Vestal Virgins. The Vestal Virgins are holy virgin priestess of Vesta, the Goddess of the Hearth. “Their primary task was to maintain the sacred fire of Vesta. The Vestal duty brought great honor and afforded greater privileges to women who served in that role. They were the only female priests within the Roman religious system. Due to the nature of their work the term “vestal” is sometimes used to describe someone who maintains an archaic tradition.” – Wikipedia

She took me to what seems to be a receiving area and it has a bright and relaxing feel to it. The furnishings were created and designed by Toothfairy Tizzy, who also has a shop there at the Roman Empire.

The Venus of Rome was very kind enough to pose for some pictures for me. :) She even invited 2 other Vestal Virgins to join us.

Next, she took me to the Temple of Vesta. This is where the Vestal Virgins perform their duties as priestess of the Goddess Vesta.

I was able to take some nice photos of the Venus of Rome using Windlight. Windlight’s various settings give you different environmental effects which can be bad and good for photos.

There are many interesting places in The Roman Empire like the The Bath and most of all the Coliseum where fights are regularly held. There are also vendor spaces around The Rome Empire. Many of them are already occupied. Some of the brands you’ll see here are TT Designs by Toothfairy Tizzy and Animate Me! and Scripts by mikeD Streeter who is also the Emperor of Rome.

The Roman Empire really got me interested that I spent around 8,000L$ for armors and weapons. I bought like 3 sets of armors and 4 different blades. LOL!

The Roman Empire is a really nice place to visit. The residents are active and there are always people in it and if you like gladiator fights then you can either become a spectator or even a gladiator. So, if you are looking for a place to spend some time in then I strongly suggest that you visit The Roman Empire. Don’t forget to bring your friends with you!
