New XstreetSL Roadmap Drove Away Merchants

Recently, many Second Life merchants have started removing their items in XstreetSL.com in response to Second Life’s new Roadmap on Managing Freebies in XstreetSL. The roadmap includes adding listing fees on both freebies and regular items listed in XstreetSL.com. This is the Commerce Team’s way of reducing clutter in XstreetSL.com’s marketplace.

A monthly listing fee of 99L$ will be charged for Freebies and 10L$ will be charged for items priced 1L$ and above. For me, I see these charges as additional cost in operating a small business in Second Life. For example, I have, more or less, 300 active items listed for sale in XstreetSL.com. Multiplying that with 10L$ will get a result of 3,000L$ which is almost twice the amount of my monthly land rental fee of 1,600L$. (more…)

3 Custom Fishing Rods for Halloween

For this coming Halloween, I was thinking of creating a few custom items for it. Today, I started by creating 3 Halloween Themed custom fishing rods. These are to be used with 7Seas Invisible or Phantom Pro Rod. For those not familiar with 7Seas Fishing Game in Second Life, more information about it can be found at their website, 7seasfishing.com.

Above are the item display photos of the 3 custom fishing rod namely; Ghostly Fishing Rod, Partying Ghosts on Parade Fishing Rod and Fishing Rod of Spooks. These 3 custom fishing rods are available for sale in-world at my new location in the Junlong region. You can also buy them at metaLIFE, XstreetSL.com, Metaverse Exchange and slapt.me. Please note that your purchase will help keep my humble fishing area in Second Life open. ^_^

Homes For Turtles

sionChicken farmers and breeders all over the grid are now also getting into Petable Turtle farming, breeding and raising. Many are even dumping their sionChickens in mass sales in order to have room on their farms for Petable Turtles. Why shouldn’t they? The team behind Petable Turtles, not only created a far superior product, they are also active participants in the community they created. They communicate with their customers and deals with everything first-hand which you will not see with sionChicken or sionCorn.

Of course, as more and more turtles are hatched by farmers, breeders and raisers all over. The need for good homes to put them in also increases and this is where I come in. As an enthusiast, I do not have that many turtles. In fact, I only have 6 turtles in-hand which I mostly use to test the pens that I had created and had put up for sale in XstreetSL.com, metaLIFE, slapt.me and at 3 Stars and a Sun in-world. (more…)

Singled Out by Kyla Savira?

Today I received a message from a certain Kyla Savira reacting on how I post at xstreetsl.com’s forum and even telling me how I should do my posting. Like most people, I do not like being told what I can and cannot do or even told how I should do things specially when I am not hurting anyone. Well, maybe if the request or message had a friendlier tone then I could have replied to her and changed my posting style a bit but her message was kinda sarcastic (and even a bit insulting).

… well hey? not everybody understand what a forum is for…

So, I just dismissed it and decided to write a blog post about it instead. My question now is, “Was I singled out by Kyla Savira?”. Seriously, xstreetsl.com’s forum has an endless number of useless post and even useless topics or threads all over it. Many of those were even started by big named avatars. I know that I am just a very small fish trying to survive amongst the big fishes of this enormous pond we call Second Life. I guess it is much easier to pick on and single out the little fishes (understandable, because if you pick on a fish bigger than you then it will just gobble you up and spit you out in pieces).
